I heard the Citizenship Test changed recently—what is the "2026 Standard"?

As of October 2025, USCIS implemented a revamped Naturalization Civics Test. If you filed your N-400 on or after that date, the test is now more rigorous: the question bank has expanded to 128 questions, and you must now answer 12 out of 20 questions correctly to pass (previously 6 out of 10).

Yes, but you must have a formal payment plan. USCIS considers tax compliance a primary indicator of “Good Moral Character.” If you owe money to the IRS, your application will likely be denied unless you provide a signed installment agreement and proof that you are making consistent, on-time payments.

You do not have to wait until your 3rd or 5th anniversary as a Green Card holder to file. You can submit your N-400 exactly 90 days before you meet the continuous residence requirement.

At RelisLaw we speak English, Spanish, and French! We take away your stress and work step-by-step on your Work Permit, Visa, and Green Card process, offering you a long-term solution and supporting relationship for your future in America
